The 1500m race saw Figl burst through in the final stage to relegate London Marathon winner Saul Mendoza (Mexico) to second place.

The battle for third place saw Thailand's Rawat Tana holding off the USA's Hollonbeck by the narrowest of margins.

Times:
1)Figl 3:10.91
2)Mendoza 3:11.35
3)Tana 3:11.48
4)Hollonbeck 3:11.49

Also debuting as a Paralympic Demo Event at the Olympics was a Womens 800m Wheelchair Race won by Chantal Petitclerc of Canada.
