Wheelchair Basketball Match 5 BasketBall Main Page

Groups A and B Round-Up Final Group match

See Table

Group A:
Italy v
France 52-69
GB v
Canada 45-63
Australia v Brazil 66-51

Group B
Holland v Japan 76-47
USA v Greece 85-27
Germany v Iran 67-53

With nothing to play for the last matches of the Group phase were little more than a formality.

The losing teams claimed they were resting their players, rotating the squad etc. Someone has to win, but it didn't matter who. For better of worse it's what happens with leagues - sometimes it's a nail biting affair with infinite combinations right down to the last quarter. Or it's all sorted by game four, as happened here.

Tomorrow no team can claim they are resting, testing or whatever. The knockout phase starts. The Quarter Final pairings are:

Canada v Japan
Australia v Germany
Holland v Italy

Canada and Holland must be hot favorites to make the semis.
The other matches good go either way, with GB on an upswing in form they could upset the steady Americans
